Wauchope Waratahs the CNC 2019 Pennant Winners

Our Pennant competition for 2019 came to a conclusion today at Port Macquarie when South West Rocks played Wauchope Waratahs.   The weather God blessed us with fine weather.
Congratulations to Wauchope Waratahs who were the winners 4/1 but the final result did not indicate the closeness of the matches.
It was good to see so many smiling faces at the 1st tee prior to hit off and also at the conclusion of the matches which were played in the true spirit of the game.
Anne Marie Campbell played Sandra Morrison and finally won at the 20th so a great match.
Jo Horton lost to Leonie Lipman on the 18th hole.
Mary-Ellen Harrison played Sue Woods and won at the 19th so another great match.
Narelle Quinn played Chris Willox and won 2/1
Sue Thompson played Marian Wedlock and won 2 up at the 18th.
Many thanks to Port Macquarie Golf Club for hosting the event and I believe the course was in great condition.
Also many thanks to Port Macquarie Ladies who provided morning tea and a celebration cake.
Thanks to all competitors for making this event so successful.
We have had a good response to our CNC Medal at SWR next week with 96 competitors and will be having a shotgun start at 9am.   The draw will be forwarded tomorrow.
We are now closing the Annual Tournament at Sawtell, a few days early due to the wonderful response which is very encouraging.
Kind regards

The Semi-Final of the Southern Pennants was played at Port Macquarie last Monday
in sometimes very unpleasant conditions with intermittent sun, wind and
sometimes heavy rain.

Wauchope were the winners 4/1.

Wauchope will now play South West Rocks in the District Final at 9am on 8th
July at Port Macquarie.

Good luck to both teams.

JNJG NSW Junior Pennants Results

JNJG NSW Junior Pennants Results

Report from Howard Burrows – LNC Junior Pennants Team Manager:

I am delighted to advise that the LNCDGA junior pennant team (Fletcher Murray KCC, Oli Payne PM, Pyper Hollis KCC/Taree, Danny Bisby Taree/Wingham, Madeleine Laws-Farrell PM & Quedesha Golledge KCC/Taree) are the 2018 JNJG NSW Junior Pennant CHAMPIONS.

On Monday morning at Newcastle Golf Club in head to head match play, LNC beat Kiama  4 matches to 2 with Fletcher, Danny, Madds & Quedesha winning. On a very hot & steamy Tuesday morning we played Toukley in the final. The matches were close for much of the morning but the LNC finally got the upper hand and came away as 5 matches to 1 winners. Our only loss was Oli, who was one down at the 18th after fighting back from 4 down at the half way mark.

All six of our players were simply magnificent and were well led by captain Fletcher in the #1 position. I firmly believe the team spirit and camaraderie among our six players had a big bearing on our win as they continued to encourage each other as the matches progressed regardless of whether they were up or down.

Summary:

V Kiama – Fletcher W 2/1, Oli L 4/2, Pyper L 3/2, Danny W 2/1, Madds W 8/7, Quedesha W 3/1

V Toukley – Fletcher W 3/2, Oli L 1 down, Pyper W 2/1, Danny W 2/1, Mads W 5/4, Quedesha W 2 up

I want to personally congratulate all six players on outstanding golf they played which led to their wonderful win. In particularly I want to thank Oli Payne for playing in the #2 spot. Oli has not had the time for much practice or tournament golf during 2018 due to his studies but he put his hand up when we need him, played some great golf and added enormously to the team spirit.

2018 Pennant Final

2018 Pennant Final

It was a fantastic final at Port Macquarie today – super sunny winter’s day and the course was in great condition. Bulahdelah verses Nambucca Heads Dolphins, two matches each and one match continued up the 19th hole, the eventual winner was Nambucca Heads Dolphins!

Well done to Nambucca Heads for winning the WGCNC District 2018 Pennant Final.

All matches were played in the true spirit of the game and a big ‘thank you’ to Port Macquarie for making their course available and a tasty ‘congratulations’ cake!

On behalf of WGCNC a big thanks to all participating Clubs this year and their players and we look forward to seeing you around the traps in 2019 OR at our Annual tournament at Kew in early August.

Finally I would like to thank Audrey Crow for her advice, help and knowledge she has imparted over the past 10 years of being involved with WGCNC.
